What: Celebrities from the world of sport unite to take on a 200 mile walking challenge in aid of charity Parkinson’s UK, from St Bees in Cumbria, to Robin Hood’s Bay, within the North York Moors National Park.
When: 11 September to 23 September 2016.
Who: Sky Sports presenter Dave Clark, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in January 2011.
Dave will be joined on his Clarky’s Coast to Coast walk by Sky Sports FI executive producer Martin Turner, diagnosed in 2015, who will be walking the full 200 miles, and sporting celebrities including Sky Sports TV presenter Jeff Stelling, sports journalist Gabriele Marcotti, Matt Porter, CEO of the Professional Darts Corporation, and darts stars (other names to be announced).
Why: Dave Clark is a long-term supporter and Champion of Walking for Parkinson’s UK.
During 2016 he secured a fundraising partnership for the charity with the Professional Darts Corporation which aims to raise £100,000.
Dave is passionate about finding a cure for Parkinson’s, and raising vital funds to support and accelerate innovative research into new and better treatments.
Current Parkinson’s drugs don’t stop, slow down or reverse the condition – they only mask it for a time. Despite huge scientific progress, there have been no major advances in Parkinson’s treatments in the last decade. Funds raised by Clarky’s Coast to Coast will support the work of Parkinson’s UK to help fund the essential research needed to transform the lives of people living with the condition, in years rather than decades.
